The airport is located on top of a plateau rising almost 300 ft above the surrounding plain. There is a good outlook over the surroundings from the restaurant.
The airport is the home of Swedish soaring -- corresponding to Wasserkuppe in Germany. It is located in a nature reserve with several walking trails. There is also a gliding aircraft museum.
