Fairly quiet smaller regional airport that has some charter flights in the summer. We had intended to stay overnight and refuel but only found out the airport would be closed on 1 May bank holiday and didn't have AVGAS immediately prior to our departure to fly there. No NOTAMs published for either. The airport looks a bit run down and in need of investment, but some improvements are on the way. There is an aviation museum nearby with many aircraft that also has plans for the future. Since we couldn't stay overnight, no comment on the town itself. Despite this becoming a brief tech stop, we were charged the handling fee. The staff spoke good English and were helpful with advice. Now that adjacent countries are in Schengen, there is no need to land at larger airports to clear immigration for onward or inbound travel. I felt this was overpriced by comparison with other airports with similar facilities for just a short tech stop.
