Highest airport in Europe, beautiful and exciting, friendly staff, expensive parking.
Online briefing required before arrival. Upon arrival, a short intro flight with an instructor is needs to be done before departure. All this mostly focuses on the poor aircraft performance with normally aspirated piston aircraft and the dangers of mountain flying (narrow valleys, winds)
The briefing said PPR was required for IFR piston aircraft but when I called they said not necessary.
Note that IFR procedures are regularly not allowed for some hours during the morning and afternoon Weekdays due the military. I am not sure about the best way to schedule beforehand but could be worth sending them an email or calling about the scheduled military activity. I was told they get the airspace FL130 and above during their training. VFR arrivals that can stay under that can still come in/out.
2 day stay was 348 CHF. 64 Landing fee international, 38 AFIS, 22 landing fee training, 13 AFIS fee, 80 x 2 daily parking rate + VAT.
Jet A and AVGAS available. Jet A was 2.19 plus 8% VAT.
