Been here half a dozen times in the last 18 months, often direct from a private field in the UK. Never once been asked for a passport! Charming airfield and lovely staff. If you’re coming in IFR from the north Geneva control can be really late giving you a handover to Chambery who then invariably want a STAR and a hold so it defo pays to be prepared. Nearly always the RNP 04 Z and then either straight in or circling for 22. I came in from the south this time initially VFR to try and avoiding CB which were building and Lyon were quite happy to give me a C clearance which Geneva never have. They vectored me for the RNP 04 circling 22 to avoid a biggies and then below 115 we were in the soup anyway. Bases at Annecy were 2900 and 5k and the circle to land was 2820 but it was all fairly easy although the thunderstorms Taffed for 1400 kicked in as soon as we landed at 1300 so something to watch for. Love this airport as a gateway to the Alps. Am leaving the plane here for a couple of weeks which they were totally fine with. In fact I get a long stay discount. And have guessed the cost above based on last year. Annecy is beautiful and only ten minutes away. Can’t believe it’s so underused.
