Ex WW2 RAF/USAAF AFB, easy to find next to the motorway and a 500' mast. Visited the maintenance company, who waived the landing fee (£18 includes one night's parking).
The airfield was deserted except a based C42. The grass runways are closed in winter, and the tarmac runways are new but very narrow, especially 16/34 which is 5m with lights (see photo).
The only things nearby are the motorway service station including a hotel, and a small industrial estate; Membury camp, an Iron Age hillfort, is very close, but I don't know if you can get there in a straight line.
