This is a fantastic airfield for GA at the moment. Highly suggest a trip before that changes.
The airport has ambition to gain IFR capability which will open it to airlines. All the ground infrastructure is in place and like new condition. Very friendly and forthcoming staff with essentially nothing to do at the moment. Virtually no traffic.
The only minimal negative is the 24hr PNR for immigration/customs. For EU Schengen countries this is not needed and even a FPL is not needed for flights to/from Germany, Austria, and I believe also Poland. Good IFR-capable alternates nearby at Salzburg and Linz.
Nearby Unesco world heritage site Cesky Krumlov and Hluboka castle are both ca. 30' bus rides from Ceske Budejovice bus terminal. Previously overrun by Chinese tourists, now busy but enjoyable.
