There are a few things to consider when flying to LSZH VFR or IFR (Note that obviously this information changes regularly so be sure to check the links provided):
(1) Handling is mandatory. The cheapest handling agent is MFGZ (local flying club). It will cost 65CHF <= 2t MTOW. https://mfgz.ch/de/general-aviation-handling-zurich-airport-kloten-en/
(2) Slots inbound and outbound are mandatory VFR and IFR. They can only be arranged via telephone earliest the day before. The slot office opens at 0600UTC (08:00 LT) in the morning so be sure to call around that time the day before you want to book your slot. Slots can be gone soon, i.e. number is limited cf. VFR manual. Telephone number is: 0041 43 816 46 37. You can find the slot times here: https://www.zurich-airport.com/business-and-partners/flight-operations/private-aviation-en
VFR you have to arrive/depart within +/- 15 minutes of your slot time. IFR you have a window of 5 minutes to call clearance delivery of your actual slot time, cf. AIP.
(3) ATC flight plan is mandatory and slot times have to match the times on the flight plan.
(4) VFR you have to complete a web based training (WBT) before you can book slots: https://elearning.zurich-airport.com/login
(5) There is a passenger charge of 18.65CHF per passenger and there are security checks going to the apron. Your handler will take you to/from your airplane to/from the apron.
Zürich is the biggest city in Switzerland but comparably small to other countries. However in my opinion this give the city a nice charm. You probably will be able to explore the city on a weekend. Some suggestions to visit: Niederdorf, Lindenhofplatz, Uetliberg, Kunsthaus (if you like art), Zoo, botanical garden, Bahnhofstrasse (main shopping street), Werdinsel. The inner part of the city is easily accessible by foot. To get there take the train from airport to the main station which takes ~10min. You can also take the tram which will take ~30min. Note that the GA terminal is only connected via bus or tram but you can take any bus or tram for 1 stop to the airport train stop or walk 10 minutes.
