I visited this airfield on my very first cross-country solo flight during PPL training. It has 835 m of excellent quality asphalt runway and is situated rather close to the city of Bremen. In fact EDWQ is about 10 nm from the extended centreline of RWY 27 of Bremen airport EDDW. This makes it a cheaper alternative to visits to that city. I have not used any transport away from EDWQ during my short stay, but a connection with public transport to Bremen central station is about 1 hour by bus and train, and probably half that by taxi.
The airfield has a total of five different traffic circuits, both a northern and a southern one for certified aircraft, a smaller northern one for gliders and again a northern and a southern one for ULMs. Just west of the northern circuit there is a large radio antenna which, at 1078 ft, is taller than the circuit height, be very careful in low visibility conditions on both approaches and departures from/to the west!
There was a peculiarity for parking at EDWQ: You absolutely had back into your parking space on the grass, which wasn't easy even with the 750 kg MTOW Aquila and I wouldn't want to do it with an aircraft twice that MTOW. Hard parking is quite limited IIRC. Hangar is available on request.
