APCH/SID/STAR in both directions. Medium sized airport with a few charters but overall very little trafic.
They send a follow-me car to park you and lend blocks, that also brings you to the GA terminal.
For return, the safety check is at the bottom of the tower to the right, have your ID and license with you, then they walk you back to the GA terminal.
Decent fees. In or out of can be expedited in 15 minutes.
Unfortunately the airport hotel closed permanently at the beginning of 2023, but getting into town is very efficient. The tram is right outside the airport, take line 4 then line 2 at Gothaer Platz and in 30 minutes you are right by the cathedral square or townhall square, dead in the middle of the town.
The old town is beautiful. The cathedral, town hall, built bridge, and all side streets with old houses, history dating back a thousand years. Plenty of restaurants. Get an ice-cream at Riva on the little market square and go sit by the river 50m north. Definitely one of my favorites stops in the middle of Germany for an overnight stay.
I was the first customer at the Ulli Lieblingsbäcker on Market street to grab a breakfast to go at 7am, and was in the air by 8:10 LT.
