Gateway to the wine region Wachau in Lower Austria and within cycling distance of the city of Krems. Visited this airport many times and the food never disappointed! The runway and taxiways are in great condition. It seems like most aircraft park on grass, but they have a large ramp with a hard surface as well - it would not surprise me if it’s possible to park on that as well. The airport building is modern and there is a comfy pilot’s area that provides drinks, snacks and a couch + a tiny “pilot shop”. Borrowed a cycle for 3 EUR an hour to explore the wine fields and villages close by. For 5 EUR you can get a an electric bike. There are two electric rental cars (brand new Fiat 500) available at the airport. I don’t think there’s any public transportation. A taxi to Krems should not be too expensive as it’s only about 10 minutes away from the city center.
