It is perhaps unfair to rate the runway and taxiway in the way I did it is better than poor but not as good as good. The man in the control tower (this is an A/A field) is very friendly and quick to offer a coffee, fuel and a chat.
Only one other aircraft and a police coastal surveillance helicopter (he is based there and did a great job landing on a pallet on wheels to go into tje hangar. No messing about) came whilst we were there.
The aeroclub is nice and twinned with the aeroclub of Royan. The field is in the middle of nowhere but the area is flat and wouldn't take much energy to cycle to the coast or a small town.
Although we parked outside the club on the hard apron, if there was a bit more traffic and or you were staying longer you might need to park on the grass.
